SEOUL, Korea, Aug. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- K-ICT Born2Global Centre, a major Korean government agency under the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, announced on Aug. 18 that its member company "REDTABLE" signed an agreement with China's leading travel agency, Ctrip, earlier this month to launch a joint venture for providing restaurant travel packages.
This will enable future Chinese tourists traveling to Seoul to choose and purchase culinary travel packages based on the preferences of locals.
REDTABLE signed a joint business agreement with Tuniu, China's leading online travel agency, and also with one of the top travel agencies in Korea.
REDTABLE, a global restaurant platform, designed its platform based on dishes and restaurants in different countries that are popular among locals. This reflects the recent trends of travelers preferring original local cuisine, traveling abroad at younger ages, and traveling greater distances. Currently, the platform offers information mainly on restaurants in Seoul as well as some information on restaurants in Tokyo, Beijing, and Jeju Island, and the company is planning to expand its services to other cities and regions, including Osaka, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
In order to offer reliable information on local cuisines and restaurants, REDTABLE follows a systematic process of data collection, analysis, and utilization. Big data on favorite local dishes and restaurants is collected from various sources, including professional websites and blogs, in different cities, and then used to rank popular dishes based on an independently developed system, provide fair reviews, and present information on the preferences of different types of customers. REDTABLE's platform can be utilized for the development of related tour packages or a variety of business purposes, such as food truck events.
CEO Doh Hae-yong commented, "Global restaurant ratings are created by only a handful of experts, and usually from a Western perspective. In contrast, REDTABLE's analysis is tailored specifically to local tastes." He went on to add, "Using our big data analysis based on local perspectives and rating system, we will continue to develop REDTABLE into a differentiated global restaurant platform."
