Caricature Artist Jota Leal To Make First International Appearance At The Coral Springs Museum of Art During C3: Comics Caricatures Cartoons

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., April 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Coral Springs Museum of Art is making South Florida the ultimate destination for comic book and caricature fans of all ages with its newest event - C3: Comics Caricatures Cartoons. C3: Comics Caricatures Cartoons will kick off with a series of events, taking place April 22-24, 2016, including workshops and opportunities to meet internationally-renowned caricature artist and speaker Jota Leal during his first-ever U.S. museum exhibition.

"We are honored to bring the works of master caricature artist, Jota Leal, award-winning animator Jim Jinkins, creator of "Doug," and live digital caricature artist, Angie Jordan to Broward County," said Julia B. Andrews, Executive Director of the Coral Springs Museum of Art. "There are so many exciting components, including opportunities to meet and interact with award-winning artists Jota Leal and Angie Jordan, to our three-day event series kicking off C3: Comics Caricatures Cartoons."

C3: Comics Caricatures Cartoons, will kick off with a "Meet the Artist" reception on Friday, April 22, 2016 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Members of the public are invited to meet Jota Leal and Angie Jordan and view their works as well as the works of award-winning animator Jim Jinkins, creator of "Doug." Unleash your creativity on Friday and Saturday, April 22 and 23, 2016 during an unparalleled art experience. Artists of all skill levels are invited to attend a one-and-a-half day workshop with master caricature artist Jota Leal. Participants will learn about Jota's artistic process and inspiration, explore the basics of creating caricatures, and develop an understanding of the essential art elements of drawing such as composition, light and color. Adults and children of all ages are invited to enjoy a full day of art, food and fun on Sunday, April 24, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The action-packed event will include superhero body painting by Avi, face painting, guest artist appearances, including an appearance by Jota Leal, comic vendors including Tate Comics and CJ's Comics, a photo booth, quick draw contests, Art Wars competitions, food trucks (Wholesome Rollers, Nuts About Sugar, Dawgs and Witches and Main Stop Grill) and a whole lot more! About the Artists: C3: Comics Caricatures Cartoons Exhibit
Jota Leal: Jota Leal's artistic style is a synergy of remarkable painting skill and a probing sense of the subject's soul, tweaked with a noteworthy sense of humor. Jota (pron: Hota) was awarded "Caricaturist of the Year" in 2003 in Venezuela. He is a self-taught painter who studied electrical engineering and graduated with honors, before immersing himself in his art. Leal works with pencil on paper, acrylic on board, and acrylic on canvas to achieve his amazing images.

Jim Jinkins: Doug Funnie, Jim Jinkins' most beloved character, started as a doodle he drew to relieve tension after a particularly bad day. Recognized author, creator, cartoon show producer and illustrator, Jim Jinkins brought "Doug" to the Nickelodeon network back in 1991. Later, the award-wining series appeared on the Disney network and has been a part of many other cartoon shows including 101 Dalmatians: The Series," "PB&J Otter," "Allegra's Window" and "Pinky Dinky Doo."

Angie Jordan: Angie Jordan is an author, live digital caricature artist and the world's first iPad caricature artist. A pioneer and teacher in the digital caricature industry, she has won many art awards and published cartoons in many newspapers. Angie has been making appearances across the nation drawing for such clients as Google, The Coca Cola Company, Merck/Johnson and Johnson, Ralph Lauren, Caesar's Resorts, Marcolin USA and many more.
