The hotel is proud of its original art collection.  Ownership's philosophy is that art is more than visual – it moves and it moves the viewer.  It adds beauty and depth to our being.

Don's vibrant installations will add to and compliment the existing collection of over 15 original works of art adorning the public areas of the hotel.  Many of the works are kinetic and, if not moving, appear to move.  It is an exciting collection and inspiring to staff and guests.  Management's objective is to add dimension to the lives of our guests, visitors and staff.  The hotel takes pride in its outstanding art collection with which to surround itself.

Don grew up in Chicago with a childhood compulsion to create and make.  A champion swimmer in high school.  His swimming success, coupled with poetry and writing, provided him the ability to focus his thoughts while in school and thereafter.

Determined to live a creative life, Don arrived in Miami in the early 1970's while in the United States Navy.  A master mural decorator and sculptor, Edward Ashton Potts, took Don under his wing and became his mentor.  The creativity which Don witnessed, and of which he was part, formed and determined his life's work.

Don studied Art History and Interior Design with many studio courses in painting and drawing, during his apprenticeship to Edward Ashton Potts.  This position allowed Don to design, paint and sculpture work for interior decorators throughout the country.  The work for Potts was demanding and involved detailed studies of interior design, European Art History and the Antiquities.  After 10 years as his apprentice, Don was a guild trained artist, having acquired the basic tools of his profession.  He received a degree in Fine Arts and Creative Writing from FIU with minors in Art History and Interior Design.

Don's work is diversified and complements many important properties in South Florida as well as throughout the world.  He has worked in the Miami area for more than 40 years; his work can best be seen at www.donzine.com.

Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Miami Brickell–Downtown is located in Brickell's financial district.   It boasts a collection of 16 original works of art in its public areas.  This includes works of both local and internationally known artists.  The property combines modern design, exceptional amenities and a convenient, urban location at affordable prices.  Besides the extensive art collection, signature features include a roof top pool/spa deck, full service lobby bar, state of the art fitness facility and 24-hour business center complete with in-room and property wide complimentary wireless internet.  A free hot breakfast is offered daily.  The hotel includes 3,800 square feet of flexible meeting space and street level restaurants.  The hotel is LEED registered with the US Green Building Council and was developed by Miami based hotel development firm of Hospitality Operations, which operates several other hotels in South Florida.
