After a twilight reception in the gardens of El Cid Marina Beach, the tournament kicks off the next morning as fishing teams make their way to the deep waters of the Pacific at sunrise. The rules are quite simple: whoever catches the biggest Dorado wins the truck!

Of course there are many other prizes to keep the contest interesting, as if the fishing itself is not enough. By 2 pm, most of the fishing boats return from their competitive forays into the Pacific's choppy waters where the fish are in wild abundance. After that, the official weigh-ins take place and the grand winner is announced. Dorado are also known as dolphin fish or mahi-mahi in other parts of the world, but no matter what they're called, they remain one of the most popular sport fish in existence. Fishing enthusiasts love the Dorado, according to El Cid Vacations Club, because they fight like tigers, are beautifully colored, and jump high when they're hooked. But most of all, they taste great when grilled or cooked in any of a number of ways.
