Cabo is the Spanish word for "Cape". This region, located on the southernmost tip of the Baja California Peninsula, Mexico, with its many capes, is called Cabo or Los Cabos. It is blessed with amazing weather, low humidity and a spectacular desert-meets-ocean scenery. There are five distinct locations in this area:

  • Cabo San Lucas is a busy town filled with restaurants, boisterous nightlife, stores and boutiques and many activities. The popular swimmable Medano Beach is here, and nearby is the Cabo San Lucas Marina. The iconic arch at Land's End is the ever present incredible backdrop to the town, the beach and the marina.
  • San Jose del Cabo, a traditional Mexican town, with its church and plazas. Its quaint narrow streets are dotted with charming boutiques, art galleries and a great restaurant scene.
  • The Tourist Corridor, stretches along the Sea of Cortez coastline between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo and also the Los Cabos International Airport. Many resorts and hotels are located along this stretch of road, and blend in with the dunes, cacti and rock formations. There are small bays with crystal clear waters rich in marine life.
  • The East Cape of Baja with its transparent waters is a perfect area for diving, sport fishing, world class surfing, windsurfing and kiteboarding. There are hidden beaches and the Cabo Pulmo living coral reef, the "Aquarium of the World."
  • The Pacific is an extension of Cabo San Lucas and the area where some of the most luxurious resorts and private community developments are located, overlooking the Pacific Ocean with majestic hills behind them.

To expand your exploration of the Baja Peninsula, visit Todos Santos, a "Pueblo Mágico" (Magic Town) located on the Pacific side, with its Mexican colonial architecture, arts and crafts and artists' galleries, an hour away from Cabo San Lucas, or La Paz, the capital of the State, a peaceful city visited by Hernan Cortes in 1535 and now a tranquil port with a nostalgic vibe, having a beautiful collection of beaches, plazas, and a three mile long boardwalk.

Upon exploration of the Los Cabos area it is easy to understand its increasing popularity.
