Jump in the Water – Ask any kid what they most want from a family vacation and playing in the water will top their choices.  New Braunfels, Texas has two great rivers, a fabulous lake and Schlitterbahn Water Park:

1) The Water Park

Theme park fun is a sure-fire kid pleasing Spring Break treat. Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels is the best water park in the world. The park offers a Spring Break package including accommodations at the park itself. Enjoy the heated up Blastenhoff section of the park March 12 – 20. Admission included with accommodations also adds an exclusive Spring Break "Swag Bag" per reservation. Check out in the park accommodations:

You can also reserve a cabana in the park to watch over the children in comfort.

2) Wakeboarding, Skiing, Stand Up Paddling

Texas Ski Ranch is a 70-acre action sports park with a boat lake and three cable systems. Enjoy wakeboarding, skiing and stand up paddling. There's also skateboarding and even snowboarding.

3) Kayaking, jet skis and fly-fishing

Two great rivers, the Comal and the Guadalupe, offer canoe, raft, kayak or stand up paddling. Canyon Lake adds sailing and jet skiing.  And there's fly-fishing, tubing or swimming. Enjoy old favorites or learn some new skills. Check out river outfitters and the marina for information on rentals, guides and lessons.

Explore the Exotic

Kids love a new adventure – whatever is radically different from home is sure to make a great travel memory. In New Braunfels there's no shortage of something new to do.

4) Cave and Zip Line

Go down under at Natural Bridge Caverns. Gear up and go caving like the first explorers of the biggest and best show cavern in Texas. See it by hand-held lanterns or take a guided tour. Younger children will enjoy panning for gems and minerals or fossils or arrowheads. At the Mining Sluice each bag of "mining rough" includes a good assortment of treasures. Kids get to sift them out on screen trays in the water sluice trough. A chart helps identify them.

All ages enjoy the Caverns Canopy Explorer Course & Zip Lines. You start with a 30 minute climb to the top of a 60-foot, four-tier adventure course. It tests agility, balance and strength on 47 obstacles. It all culminates in a glide down high above the Texas Hill Country on the Canopy Zip Lines. There's a Canopy Kids Course designed for toddlers and younger children, too. And don't miss the fantastic maze

5) Exotic Wildlife Safari

How about ostrich feathers, zebra ears and buffalo noses close enough to touch? Drive through Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch. It's 450 acres of rolling Texas Hill Country with more than 500 animals.  There are 45 exotic, native and endangered animal species from every continent except Antarctica.

There's a petting barnyard for toddlers. See African Pygmy Goats (and their many offspring) beg them for treats - nose to nose. Get up close and personal with the giraffes at their special barn. See Ring-tailed Lemurs from Madagascar at Lemur Island. Peacocks, Peahens and their offspring roam freely, showcasing their beautiful tail feathers. Bring your cameras.

There's McKenna Children's Museum and Landa Park's miniature train and playscapes. Relive an old family tradition at the new Stars and Stripes Drive-In Theatre. It's a trip back to the future with first run movies out under the stars. Add some family-friendly features like:

There really is something for everyone in the family. Most attractions in New Braunfels also offer food, beverages and rest areas to recharge. Family-owned and operated, they've taken care of visitors for generations.

New Braunfels has the largest variety of accommodations in the Texas Hill Country. There's something to fit every family and every budget. Maybe you'd like to stay in a teepee or a treehouse?
