SUZHOU, China, Nov. 5, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- On November 1, in a move by Suzhou's tourism authorities to enhance general awareness of the city's distinctive tourism offerings and culture, a delegation of foreign journalists took part in a comprehensive escorted tour of the popular destination in China's Jiangsu province known for its mix of antique charm and advanced science. The journalists paid a visit to AI-focused pioneer Gowild, the exhibition halls of Suzhou International Design Week at Taohuawu Historical and Cultural Area, Yuhantang (the former residence of Wu Yipeng, the teacher of the Ming Dynasty emperor), Shantang Street, Pingjiang Road and the Suzhou Museum.

During the first stop of the tour at Gowild, a leading business in Suzhou's Gusu district, the journalists were impressed by the versatility, resilience and innovation of Amber (Hupo), an AI robot developed by the firm for application in the smart home, assisted driving, commercial exhibition and IP empowerment sectors. The visiting journalists found themselves immersed in the cutting-edge AI technology in a city generally more well known for its long history and profound culture.

The Gusu district has, for many years, enhanced its efforts in promoting the city's long standing intangible cultural heritage. As a platform to showcase Suzhou's Wu culture, Yuhantang is a key site for the display of art pieces, the inaugural exhibit of new innovations in culture as well as academic and cultural exchanges and conferences in a venue that allows close contact with the city's and the region's intangible cultural heritage. In addition to enhancing their understanding of advanced and complicated architectural techniques used in Yuhantang's old buildings featuring Suzhou styles, the journalists took part in a variety of folk culture-themed activities.

The journalists also visited Shantang Street, often referred to as the "First Street of China", as well as the "epitome of old Suzhou and a window on the Wu Culture". After a tour of the old buildings and historic and cultural sites, they spoke highly of the unique atmosphere along the ancient street.

At the end of the tour, the journalists noted that Suzhou is an ideal tourism destination for visitors seeking a locale featuring a long history and profound culture.
