MUMBAI, December 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --
Cricket and commentaries are like wicket and bail, allowing only for a temporary separation. The latest piece of commentary is available to anyone who wants to know about the origins of Mumbai and Indian cricket. Narrated by Devendra Prabhudesai, author and cricket buff, "Cricket Walk - 150 Years Not Out" takes the listener on a tour exploring the history of Mumbai and Indian cricket. This is available on the app HopOn India, which was recently launched by a Mumbai-based start-up Desiwalks Tours Private Limited. The user is expected to download the App, buy the walks that the user is interested in and then take the walk as the narrator takes the user on a journey of discovery.

To tune in to this, users don't need a transistor or a cable and satellite connection. One just needs to download the HopOn India App, that is available for both the iOS and Android phones. The users need to pay INR 300 for the English version and INR 160 for the Hindi version. But to really make the most of this commentary, the physical walk through the Maidans of South Mumbai is recommended.
'The Cricket Walk - 150 Years Not Out' starts from Cannon Pau Bhaji opposite to the Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, which is on one edge of Azad Maidan, where it all started for Indian cricket. The Walk covers Azad Maidan, where the Britishers played polo and the natives then practiced cricket a century-and-a-half ago, and the adjacent Bombay Gymkhana, where Lala Amarnath hit his famous first century on debut in 1933-34. The walk then passes through Cross and Oval Maidans before entering the Churchgate area. While passing this area, users can take a peek at the old BCCI office. The walk then covers the two stadiums - Brabourne and Wankhede. It tells the story of how two international cricketing arenas came to be situated so close to each other, as well as some of the amazing cricketing tales associated with them. Finally, the Walk goes back in time and covers the Gymkhanas - Parsi, Islam and Hindu - on Marine Drive.
Prabhudesai, the Ex-Manager- Media Relations and Corporate Affairs of BCCI has also authored biographies of India's three batting greats - Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid, said, "I was quite intrigued by the idea of a digital app that gives this running commentary as we look at places where the action unfolded. Mumbai is no doubt the capital of Indian cricket. You need to listen to the Walk to realize how a lot of cricketing history was created on this 4 km stretch."
Narrated by Prabhudesai himself, this tour is an insider's guide to Mumbai and its cricketing lore. For those in love with the game, this is a must-have experience. And for those who think the ball hitting the sweet spot is the best sound they have heard, well, this walk will be no different! And yes, just like cricket commentary in India, there is the option to choose between English and Hindi.
