As August comes to a close and summer days begin dwindling down, there is often a rush to cram the most of summer into a few short weeks. JLofts Greenwich, with close proximity to beautiful beaches, shares five beaches to add to your summer checklist and take advantage of before the end of summer.

1. Byram Beach. Open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Byram is the smallest public beach in Greenwich. Visitors can play tennis on the tennis courts, or play ball on a lighted ball field. There are also bathhouses available.

2. Little Captain's Island. Known as Island Beach, this beach is accessible by ferry from the landing at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park, which is off of Arch Street. This is one of the oldest parts of Greenwich and boasts scenic views as well as a picnic pavilion with tables and grills, and a snack bar. Lifeguards patrol the beaches from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Memorial Day to Labor Day.

3. Great Captain Island. This 17-acre island is home to the historic Great Captain Island Light lighthouse and is also accessible by ferry from the same landing as Little Captain's Island. In addition to swimming areas, there are hiking trails, grills, and picnic tables. And, a wide array of birds can be found, including great blue herons, egrets, and a great horned owl.

4. Cove Island Park. This beach features two sandy beaches, a small salt marsh and intertidal mudflats along a rocky shoreline. Visitors to this beach will not only enjoy swimming, but also fishing, crabbing, bird watching, and kite flying.

5. Greenwich Point Park. This beach, known to locals as Tod's Point, is one of Greenwich's most popular beaches. Visitors have access to many activities and amenities—including sunbathing, swimming, jogging, bicycling, hiking, boating, water sports, and fishing. The park also has a concession stand, restrooms and its very own yacht club (members-only). Open from 6 a.m. to sunset, lifeguards are on duty from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Memorial Day through Labor Day.

With an outstanding walking score of 75, JLOFTS Greenwich apartments is close to all. Recently named on Money Magazine's list of 'Best Places to Live,' Greenwich has high end shops and boutiques and quality dining options within walking distance.
