Loto-Québec turns 50 - Loterie mensuelle - Loto-Québec's first lottery game ever - is back again 50 years later!

Loterie mensuelle tickets go on sale as of today for six whole weeks at the very same price as Day 1: $2. The draw will be held March 14, 2020, exactly 50 years after Loto-Québec's very first draw. This time around, however, there'll be five $125,000 jackpots up for grabs!

• To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Loto-Québec is going back to basics and relaunching Loterie mensuelle. Tickets go on sale January 27 with five $125,000 jackpots up for grabs.
• The first draw for this lottery game—and the very first in Loto-Québec history—was held on March 14, 1970. More than 1 million Quebecers purchased a ticket.
• At the time, customers could get their Loterie mensuelle ticket at the bank or by sending an entry form and $2 to Loto-Québec.
• Leading up to the first draw, a gala was held at Théâtre Saint-Denis in Montréal. The winners were unveiled on live TV.
• Since its inception, the government corporation has awarded the people of Québec close to $30 billion in prizes, and more than 1,800 prizes of $1,000,000 or more.
