Mayor Dr. Francis Shelton Spearheads Main Street Program

TOWN OF BOLEY, Okla., Feb. 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Rural America generally faces unique problems. When it comes to developing and implementing projects, the Mayor wears too many hats.  Mayor Dr. Francis Shelton is no different; some days she is the "fixer." Other days, she is the town cab driver.   Two years into the service of her beloved hometown, she teamed up with her council and appointed Annette D. Colbert-Latham to serve as the Grant Administrator.  The ardent task required the duo to take inventory of the assets and liabilities of the Town.

The Town of Boley, Oklahoma sits smack dab in the middle of Heartland.  It is known as the crown jewel among the Historical Black Towns.  In an effort to revitalize its business and tourism, the Mayor and Annette designed a Main Street Program.  However it needs the support of the public. Letters of support from former citizens and residents are needed.   It also needs financial help to meet the matching portion of the effort.  The $ 2,000,000 project will bring tourism and Industry to the Town.
