LAVAL, QC, Feb. 15, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - The Société de transport de Laval (STL) is pleased to announce that it has expanded its family fare policy during the spring break period—from February 29 to March 4 inclusively.

As a reminder, the STL's family fare allows one adult, paying their full fare, to travel with up to five children aged 11 or younger for free. As of July 2015, riders with the Intermediate Student Fare passes between the ages of 18 and 25 as of October 31 of the current year, and Horizon 65+ pass holders are also entitled to the family fare policy.

The family fare policy is effective seven days a week from July 1st to Labour Day and is also applicable all-year-round on weekends and statutory holidays. The policy is being expanded this year to include spring break.

"Spring Break is an important time for family activities" says David De Cotis, President of the STL's Board of Directors. "By allowing Lavallers to travel with up to five children aged 11 or younger to travel for the cost of a single fare, we are providing them with access to activities across all of Laval during this festive and unique period."

The family fare is also applicable on the new 360 bus line launched in January. Created in collaboration with Laval hotels, the Cosmodome, partners from the Centropolis and the Carrefour Laval, the bus line is providing service to Laval's many points of interest. Departures leave every twenty minutes from the Montmorency Metro station between 9 AM and 6 PM, heading to the downtown area north of Boulevard Saint-Martin.

"We are trying to encourage youths to discover and adopt public transportation and this is an excellent opportunity for them" adds David De Cotis. "This year, during Spring Break, day camp monitors paying a regular or intermediate fare can take up to five children on the bus with them for free. Grandparents benefitting from the Horizon 65+ fare can also travel without paying for their grandchildren. The family fare policy allows youths travelling with the STL to engage in a positive travel experience and in the future, they will be more likely to integrate public transit into their travel habits. It's just common sense."
