MAZATLAN, Mexico, Oct. 10, 2016 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- There are now more ways to travel to Mazatlán from the U.S. and Canada, according to new airline schedules announced this week. Both WestJet and Aeromar will be expanding their Canada-to-Mexico,and US-to-Mexico options, according to El Cid Vacations Club.

While details of WestJet's additional flights are not yet available, Aeromar officials were on hand in Tucson, Ariz., to announce the return of international airline service from that city to various sites in Mexico. El Cid Vacations Club notes that Mazatlán travel options, for both Canadians and Americans, have been getting simpler in the last few years.

Four new destinations, from Tucson, have been added to the Aeromar general schedule: Hermosillo, Los Mochis, Mazatlán, and Guadalajara.

Hermosillo is a major hub in the Mexican airline network, and the addition of this new service from Tucson will go a long way toward augmenting the already close ties between the Southern Arizona city and its neighboring communities in Mexico, according to El Cid Vacations Club.

Jonathan Rothschild, Tucson's mayor, discussed the new routes with media representatives, noting, "I couldn't be more pleased at this announcement and I want to thank and welcome Aeromar to Tucson." El Cid Vacations Club points out that the new flights will operate four days per week. The schedule might be expanded even more, Aeromar officials stated, if consumer demand continues to increase for direct connection flights from Arizona to vacation spots in Mexico, particularly Mazatlán.

In the past, travelers sometimes had to make several stops to arrive at MZT, but now fewer connections are involved.  With the new flights, it will be much easier for visitors to reach Hermosillo, Guadalajara, Los Mochis, and the sunny shores of Mazatlán, one of the nation's most beautiful and popular cities.

Aeromar's CEO and director general, Andrés Fabre, visited Tucson late last week to unveil the company's new ticket counter and to discuss the agreement with city representatives. He pointed out that Tucson is a welcome addition to the long list of cities that the airline serves, and offered thanks to everyone in Mexico and the U.S. who worked to put the agreement in place.

According to El Cid Vacations Club, the re-establishment of direct flights from Tucson to Mazatlán and other cities will provide an economic boost for Mexico as well as the city of Tucson.
