NEW YORK, Feb. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The travel ban may be lifted as New Yorkers returned to work on Monday, but city officials are urging residents to avoid driving and other travel unless it is necessary, the NY Daily News reports. ("New York City slowly returns to normal after mammoth blizzard brings near-record snowfall," January 25, 2016). City crews had been working around the clock to plow and removed what amounted to 30 inches of snow in some parts of the city. While massive work has been done and most transportation services are running, arduous amounts of snow and ice remain, making Monday's commuters will see significant delays.

City officials are asking drivers to remain off the roads to the extent possible still and to leave their cars where they are; alternate side parking has been suspended until February. Officials are also cautioning people about over exerting themselves while shoveling snow as at least five people have been reported dead due to shoveling snow.

"This was the biggest storm many of us have ever experienced," said Adnan Munawar, Partner at Munawar & Andrews-Santillo LLP. "While many of us will still need to get to the office on Monday, hopefully people will heed the City's advice and proceed with an extra ounce of caution. In conditions like these, there should be little reason to rush; let's stay out of the way and let the experts clear the snow as quickly as possible."

"Of course, there will almost inevitably be people who refuse to listen or who somehow don't seem to understand that icy conditions make driving more dangerous. These people are likely to cause an accident and may potentially injure others. If you or a loved one finds yourself the victim of someone else's carelessness, you should contact an attorney right away. There is no excuse for disregarding the value of other people's lives, and victims should not be left to pay for the injuries caused by others. An experienced attorney will know how to file your claims and get them resolved as soon as possible, getting you the compensation you need and deserve. And remember, consulting with a personal injury attorney is free, and you only pay a fee when you collect, so virtually anyone can afford quality representation."
