SINGAPORE, Nov. 25, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Stars of Christmas, an annual three-part community programme championed by OUE Limited (SGX-ST: "OUE") and Meritus Hotels & Resorts, returns for its tenth year of bringing Christmas cheer to beneficiaries of non-profit organisations providing programmes and services to underprivileged children, and those with special needs and illnesses.
Since starting in 2010, Stars of Christmas has solicited over 8,000 presents for various young beneficiaries, made possible by the support of partners and the wider community.
Part 1: Ceremonial Kick-Off
Stars of Christmas 2019 kicked off with the ceremonial hanging of Christmas stars at the lobby of Mandarin Orchard Singapore on 21 November. From now until 16 December, stars bearing the name, age, and gender of beneficiaries will be available for members of the public to pick and purchase presents for. Presents can then be dropped off at the designated collection points no later than 15 December at Marina Mandarin Singapore and Downtown Gallery, and 16 December at Mandarin Orchard Singapore.
Part 2: Stars of Christmas Luncheon
Part two of the programme will see beneficiaries of Stars of Christmas 2019 with their parents, siblings, and caregivers be part of a Christmas luncheon hosted by OUE Executive Chairman, Dr Stephen Riady, at the Grand Mandarin Ballroom of Mandarin Orchard Singapore. The children will be treated to an afternoon of entertainment and a scrumptious yuletide feast—ending on a merry note with Santa and his helpers giving out Christmas presents.
Part 3: Stars of Christmas Toy Run
Stars of Christmas 2019 culminates in a Toy Run activity on the morning of 14 December, with volunteer riders on a fleet of Harley-Davidson motorcycles making for a festive spectacle on the Orchard Road frontage of Mandarin Gallery as they set off to deliver Christmas presents to various locations.
Once again making up the cast of supporting partners for Stars of Christmas 2019 are Komoco Motorcycles Pte Ltd (Harley-Davidson of Singapore—Sole Authorised Dealer); Community Chest—the fund-raising and engagement arm of the National Council of Social Service; Downtown Gallery; and Takashimaya Singapore Ltd.
This year, the Stars of Christmas community programme is in support of Children's Cancer Foundation, Club Rainbow, KK Women's and Children's Hospital, Ronald McDonald House Charities Singapore, SPD, Rainbow Centre, HCSA Dayspring Residential Treatment Centre, Lutheran Community Care Services, Marymount Centre, and various other children's welfare organisations under Community Chest.
Stars of Christmas is open to all, and aims to deliver Christmas presents to some 2,000 beneficiaries this year.
