Panama City Beach's $38 million Sports Complex Chooses to Outsource Management: Selects Industry-Leading Firm, Sports Facilities Management (SFM)

CLEARWATER, Fla., Sept. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- As the size and scale of sports complexes have grown in the country, so too has the ability for communities to choose professional operators to manage these multi-million-dollar investments.  One of the latest and most anticipated new projects for 2019 is the Panama City Beach Sports Complex, a 210-acre outdoor complex featuring rectangular championship multi-purpose fields to include diamond sports ready to host some of the southeast region's most prestigious youth and adult sports tournaments. The new facility will feature all the essential amenities needed to run a first-class large scale tournament and the complex will serve our visitors with vendor row and concessions that will accentuate the experience with local food and beverage options. To manage the daily operations, marketing, event booking, maintenance and purchasing of their complex, Visit Panama City Beach selected the industry-leading Sports Facilities Management.

Richard Sanders, Vice President of Sports & Special Events, of Visit Panama City Beach commented on their decision to outsource rather than self-manage. "With this size investment, we wanted only the best. Everything about the sports park is designed to create an incredible experience for visitors as an extension of our already well-known vacation destination. The Sports Facilities Management represents the best in the industry and we're excited to begin this partnership."

"Panama City Beach is already a flourishing beach destination with a vibrant culture," says Founder and CEO of SFM, Jason Clement. "We're honored to have been chosen by Visit Panama City Beach to enhance the visitor experience through expanded sports tourism and bring new visitors to the southeast region at large."

The sports park, the newest youth sports tourism destination to join the SFM National Network, projects an economic impact of $23.2 million for the first year and increase to $27 million by year five, with 81,611 non-summer visitors as the contributors to 60,000 room nights. SFM conducted a national search for position of General Manager, and subsequently hired J.D. Wood, formerly of College Station, Texas.  100 to 150 additional jobs are expected for the area, counting on-site management, operational staff plus game officials and concession workers.

SFM Regional Vice President John McDonald commented, "This sports park represents the best in the industry. Visit Panama City Beach sports & events group, led by Richard Sanders, is set up for success with a great team, great facility, and great destination. Their vision for creating a world-class sports destination is well underway to becoming reality."

As a premier vacation destination, prime event weekends for the facility have already begun to be booked by select events rightsholders. For spring training reservations, event booking details, or job inquiries, contact General Manager J.D. Wood. jdwood@sportadvisory.com
