Olivia Travel's Pacific Coastal Cruise 2016 will arrive in San Francisco, bringing a cruise ship full of lesbians into the Port of San Francisco. The general public is invited to join the celebration and show their support by waving a rainbow flag.

San Francisco civic leaders including Supervisor Jane Kim, former Supervisor Bevan Dufty, Port of San Francisco Port Commissioner Leslie Katz, Executive Director Elaine Forbes, the LGBT community, and its allies will attend

Thursday September 29th, 2016


Time: 8:30 – 9:30 AM Pacific Time (Ceremony at 9:00 AM)

Pier 35, 1454 The Embarcadero



DETAILS:

San Francisco civic leaders, the LGBT community, and its allies will welcome Olivia Travel's Pacific Coastal Cruise aboard Holland America's ms Zaandamn. This will be the first time San Francisco will serve as a port of call for the iconic lesbian travel company which calls this city home.




The Rainbow Welcoming Ceremony will be co-hosted by the San Francisco Bay Times newspaper in conjunction with the Port of San Francisco and Holland America Line. The ceremony will include representatives from the City of San Francisco, San Francisco Pride and others. Supervisor Jane Kim, former Supervisor Bevan Dufty, Port of San Francisco Port Commissioner Leslie Katz and Executive Director Elaine Forbes are all expected to attend.




More than 1,400 passengers aboard the ms Zanndamn will come ashore upon their arrival in San Francisco for the 9:00 AM ceremony and their planned shopping, touring and other activities. Olivia founders Judy Dlugacz and Rachel Wabha and other executives will come ashore with the passengers and be welcomed. Holland America representatives will also attend including the ship's captain— Captain Peter Jan van Maurik. Members of the Bay Area's LGBTQ Community have also been invited to attend and encouraged to bring rainbow flags to wave during the ceremony.




Olivia is an historic LGBT community business founded in the Bay Area in 1974. In 1990, the company became Olivia Travel and has since then transported more than 250,000 lesbians on more than 250 cruises.
