Release Your Inner Child At The Intouch Credit Union Plano Balloon Festival

PLANO, Texas, Sept. 10. 2018 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The InTouch Credit Union Plano Balloon Festival will celebrate its 39^th year with more than 90,000 attendees during the three-day event in North Texas. The City of Plano is the Official Hot Air Balloon Capital of Texas, and this annual festival is held in Plano's largest park, the Oak Point Park & Nature Preserve that spans more than 800 acres. This year the festival features more than 50 hot air balloons, a parachute team exhibition, two stages of live entertainment, fireworks show, food concessionaires, merchandise vendors, kids fun zone and more! 

"The 2018 theme 'Release Your Inner Child' is meant to remind the public that this is a family-friendly event and fun for all ages. The colorful hot air balloons floating across the sky creates a visual that brings out the inner, happy child in all of us, and makes us smile," says Executive Director, Jo Via.

The gates open at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 21 and the festival has a full schedule of activities on and off the field. The RE/MAX of Texas Parachute Team fly up in an airplane above the festival and one-by-one they jump out and glide down for an exciting landing onto the field.  What's a festival without music?  T-Mobile is proud to present two of the top DFW bands on the KLUV Main Stage.  Friday night join us for Downtown Fever and Saturday night, you don't want to miss Good Question Band.

The stars at night are big and bright and Pyrotex is ready to launch an orchestrated and customized Spectacular Firework Show presented by Bimbo Bakeries USA.  

Between the balloon activities the Central Market Kids Fun Zone is a great place to ride in a pirate ship, race obstacle courses, let the toddlers enjoy their own Toddler Zone, or have your face painted.  The free 'Kids Korner Tent' will be staffed and ready to offer make and take art activities. 

Want to take a ride in a hot air balloon? Tethered rides provide a brief ballooning experience with tickets available on-site: $25 for adults and $15 for children age 6-12 years old. The KDFW FOX 4  Community Stage will showcase the Plano Children's Theatre, Plano Children's Chorus, Pogue Entertainment Group, Lee's US Taekwondo, Events In Motion, Shufflin' Shoes Cloggers, The Dance Movement's Fusion Performance Company, and Fenton's Dance Factory. Seating is provided surrounding the stage and the tent is located in the Central Market Kids Fun Zone.  

New for runners this year is the 10K course added to the Plano Balloon Festival Half Marathon, Sky High Challenge, Elevate Challenge, 5K and 1K races.  Advance registration is required: www.pbfraces.org.   Free bus service is for anyone who wants to ride the "balloon flyer" from the DART Parker Road Station to the festival.  Follow the fun by visiting our social channels!
