BEIJING, Dec. 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- In 2022, the XXIV Olympic Winter Games will focus the world's attention on Beijing, China. In the 5 years prior to the event, the two programs of "ice and snow-themed sports" and "ice and snow-themed tourism" make North China present itself to the world. This winter, China Ice-Snow Tourism Promotion Alliance invites you to experience the most unique winter events with its "Northland Ice and Snow" tourist brand.

Where to see the best ice and snow in China?

The period between November to March is rainy season in the tropical country of Singapore, but snowy winter in North China. The stark difference in climate and landscape stirs Singaporean tourists, who are wondering where to see the best ice and snow in China.

In order to better promote the ice and snow tourist brand in China, the China Ice-Snow Tourism Promotion Alliance - advocated by Heilongjiang Provincial Tourist Development Commission and jointly organized by the tourism authorities of Beijing, Jilin, Liaoning, Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang and Hebei provinces -  was set up. Since its establishment, the alliance has been committed to promoting the best ice and snow tourism resources in China to the world. Through continuous efforts, it tries to make winter lovers in the world fall for China's snowy land and enjoy the happy winter time.

What is the best ice and snow in North China?

There are top ten distinctive winter tourist destinations in North China, and China Ice-Snow Tourism Promotion Alliance tells you where to see the best ice and snow. On November 18, 2017, the 2017 "Northland Ice and Snow" Conference released the top ten winter tourist events in North China, including core attractions of the 7 alliance members.

Three of the top ten tourist attractions are found in Heilongjiang province known as "Best Ice and Snow Land".  Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival (the world's largest ice and snow-themed event), which starts on January 5th every year and lasts for two months, is unique to the city of Harbin and welcomes people from the whole world to take part in the carnival. On December 1, 2017, the Harbin - Singapore non-stop flight, which takes only 7 hours, was officially opened, bringing better access to the ice and snow world of Harbin.

As two highlights of the festival, both Harbin Ice and Snow World (the world's largest snow-themed park) and Harbin Sun Island International Snow Sculpture Art Expo (the world's largest snow sculpture art group) have their own respective features. The former is one of the venues of 2017 CCTV Spring Festival Gala, and is well-known in the world as "Ice and Snow Disney Land"; the latter is the birthplace of Chinese sculpture art, with 30 years of history, featuring most beautiful snow sculptures.

Beijing is the world's first city of hosting both Olympic Summer Games and Olympic Winter Games. Since the moment when Beijing won the bid for the Winter Olympics, its image in the hearts of people has been added a white dream of ice and snow. If all parts of China are the cradles of athletes for winter sport events, Beijing in 2022 will be the place for them to realize their dreams.

Also, the host city of 2022 Olympic Winter Games, Zhangjiakou, Hebei province will undertake snow-based events. The city has the world's fastest-developing town for skiing - Chongli. As a training base for world professional athletes and a venue for international skiing event, Chongli is a place for skiers to realize their dreams. Here, visitors can feel the international winter Olympic passion ahead of the Games. Every track is open to your ideal and every peak leads to your dream.

Search for the origin of human skiing – Mount Aletai in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, whose altitude is between 2,000 and 3,500 meters, the internationally recognized best skiing range, and free from altitude stress. This is the "powder snow paradise" where skiers are flocking, and it boasts snowy scenery of Kanas Lake known as the "pure land of mankind".

Mount Changbai in Jilin province, a ski resort in the same latitude zone as its world famous counterparts the Alps and Rocky Mountains, features the world's highest volcano lake – Tianchi. In the winter, the water surface of the lake is pure white, embraced by 16 peaks around, with only one narrow gap between the Tianhuo Peak and Guanri Peak to form an amazing waterfall. Baitou Peak (literally "white hair peak") has rolling ridges and snowy scenery, triggering the saying that two lovers stick to each other till the hair turns white.

The tourist resources in North China offer access to experiencing both coldness and warmth at the same time. Bayuquan District, one of the largest snow-surrounded (coastal) hot springs in the world, is a popular tourist attraction in the winter of Liaoning province noted for its hot springs amid ice and snow. The Liaoning Ice-Snow Hot Spring Festival held every year here attracts tourists to the extreme experience of hot springs surrounded by ice and snow.

From hot springs to the prairie, the winter of North China is fairly colorful. Nadam Fair, a winter event in Inner Mongolia and one of the most ethnically characteristic culture-oriented tourist events, embodies perfect fusion of grassland culture and snow resources. The typical Mongolian sports items such as archery, horse racing and wrestling will take place on the snow-capped grassland.

Just as every sea area of Southeast Asia has its unique style, the winter fishing of North China varies from place to place. Winter fishing is an activity on the ice with the strongest sense of ritual in the world, and it is a fusion of folk customs and spectacle landscape. The winter fishing on Chagan Lake, Jilin province is heroic and magnificent; on Jingpo Lake, Heilongjiang province, fishers let free the first caught fish to show reverence to the ecological environment; the winter fishing on Wolong Lake, Liaoning province inherits Liao culture; the one on Dalai Nur Lake in Inner Mongolia boasts snowy land, glacial lakes, hot springs, and ethnic customs; the one on Ulungur Lake, Xinjiang is a grand fishing feast on the desert.

How to visit the top 10 ice and snow-themed tourist attractions in North China?
