South Seas Island Resort to Host Second Annual Yacht Rock Weekend This Labor Day Weekend

CAPTIVA ISLAND, Fla., Aug. 7, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- This Labor Day Weekend, South Seas Island Resort on Captiva Island will host its second annual Yacht Rock Weekend, a three-day, family friendly festival featuring games, food and of course, live music. A complimentary event for all guests of the resort, Yacht Rock Weekend promises captivating performances and engaging activities set amongst the picturesque, 330-acre destination resort.

Fans of Yacht Rock, the smooth, easy-listening music popular during the late seventies and early eighties, will delight in Yacht Rock Weekend's festivities. The weekend kicks off on Friday night with a video compilation of some of the genre's greatest hits – including those by Toto, Kenny Loggins, Christopher Cross, Steely Dan and The Doobie Brothers – projected on a big screen in the picturesque Marina Walk. Also on Friday night, kids and parents alike can try their hand at Glow Golf on the resort's own Captiva Course.

Saturday will commence with a Labor Day bash at the Resort Pool Complex. Non-stop activities include log rolling, tie dye, hermit crab racing and a cardboard boat regatta. As day turns to night, the Marina Walk Lawn will transform for a new addition to the festival's lineup, a "Rock the Yacht" Love Boat party. The Love Boat-themed celebration will feature live music by Mark Dupuy, interactive food & beverage stations, classic cruise ship games, stargazing and more. The festivities will continue until midnight with Harbourside Bar & Grill hosting "live" karaoke, during which participants will have the opportunity to sing with Jeff and Wendy Key of The Florida Keys.

An island luau complete with a pig roast and other traditional accompaniments as well as lawn games will kick off Sunday's festivities. From early afternoon until after the sun has set, Sunset Beach will play host to live performances by John McLane, Captain Larry, and the Cool Vibes Trio, an island reggae band, and on Sunday evening the resort's West Lawn will transform into Yacht Rock Weekend's Main Stage with a performance by None Other Band. Additional Yacht Rock Weekend events include a special edition of Kids' Night Out, non-stop games taking place at the beach, poolside and more.
