Teamsters To Protest United Airlines At Houston PGA Tour Event On Friday

Company-Sponsored Event Demonstrates Misplaced Priorities

(HOUSTON, Texas) – Members of Teamsters Local 19 will protest United Airlines' unfair contract offer and misplaced priorities at the United-sponsored PGA Tour Shell Houston Open on Fri., April 1.

While United is taking in billions of dollars in profits from customers, the mechanics who service United's planes have overwhelmingly rejected a substandard contract offer by the company that would slash profit-sharing, impact health care and diminish job security.

United's mechanics, who ensure the safe operation of the airline, lost their pensions and made other major concessions during bankruptcy. The mechanics recently voted to authorize a strike.  

Mechanics will gather outside the PGA Tour event to call attention to United Airlines' hypocrisy for spending millions on sponsorships while denying mechanics a fair contract.
