The classics of Taoyuan Land Art Festival to continue after 17 days of exhibition

TAIPEI, Nov. 1, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The 7th Taoyuan Land Art Festival has ended with the wonderful performance by the Close-Act Theatre on September 22, 2019. During the 17-day exhibition period, the five major exhibition areas were fully packed at all times, with the festival drawing enthusiastic response from the public. As the organizer of this festival, the Department of Culture Affairs, the Taoyuan County Government stated that most of the exhibitions will continue to take place until the end of the year. The "Cloud9: Raining" artwork will be a regular setting at Xipo Pond Ecology Park, while the other three artworks will continue to be on display at Peh Te Tshu Art Plan. The public is welcome to visit these artworks.

 

Taoyuan Land Art Festival is one of the important large-scale arts and cultural events in Taoyuan City. The festival aims to bring arts closer to the environment and the lives of the ordinary folks with spatial intervention through art, and promote the unique natural landscape and cultural features of Taoyuan City. Initially known as "Taoyuan Land And Open Air Art Festival", the festival was inaugurated in 2013, where Hofman's big yellow duck created a frenzy during that time, bringing in a record number of 2.45 million visitors in the first year of the festival.

Since 2016, the land art festival started to position themselves with three major themes - "Local Awakening," "Community Pneumatics," and "Artistic Piling", and was renamed "Taoyuan Land Art Festival" in order to strengthen the features of local brands. The festival is held alternately in different regions, in hopes of promoting featured landscapes in Taoyuan City through a wide variety of artworks. Furthermore, local communities are also roped in to contribute to the festival, which not only makes the festival a sightseeing event, but also a local festival for the people of Taoyuan.

This year, the Dainan Forest Park, formerly the First Special Police Corps Dainan Camp, was selected as the main exhibition area, which was then extended to surrounding city area, green area, and pond ecological area, including Taoyuan Children's Art Museum, Xipo Pond Ecology Park, Xibin Park, and Zhongda Park. A total of 24 installation artworks, including paintings and sculptures, by artists from Germany, France, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Vietnam, China, and Taiwan were exhibited, where a total of 10 artworks in Peh Te Tshu Art Plan were jointly created by artists and communities.

After the end of the exhibition period, almost half of the artworks will be kept on the spot until the end of the year, the public welcome to enjoy the view of some artworks in various exhibition areas, including Dainan Forest Park, Xipo Pond Ecology Park, Zhongda Park and etc. The popular "Cloud9: Raining" artwork will be exhibited as a regular setting and retained as a permanent landscape in Xipo Pond.
