SALT LAKE CITY, Aug. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- As months of anticipation draw to a close, The Leonardo will open FLIGHT, their newest blockbuster exhibit this Saturday. The culmination of years of work by museum staff and dedicated corporate and community partners, FLIGHT is a truly unique exhibit that throws open the doors to the wonder and awe of traversing the skies.

"I am extremely proud of the work we've done on FLIGHT," said Alexandra Hesse, CEO of The Leonardo. "When we set out to create this exhibit, we wanted to make something that would encourage people to think as da Vinci thought, and explore the world in new and exciting ways. With FLIGHT, the team at the museum and our partners at Creative Services Bureau, our board, our community partners and many others have come together to make this a reality. I'm thrilled to share this tremendous exhibit with the people of Utah."

FLIGHT is a fully interactive exhibit with a full sized C-131 aircraft at the center. Visitors can climb in, on or around the aircraft in order to learn exactly what makes it fly. In addition, the exhibit boasts interactives, two flight simulators, an expansive art piece titled The Tunnel of Dreams and more. It's appropriate for all ages and free with general admission.

"FLIGHT represents a lot of hard work, but it truly has been a labor of love," said Hesse. "Since we opened The Leonardo five years ago, we've been growing and changing as a museum and the opening of FLIGHT marks a true turning point. Like da Vinci, we're always trying to expand our horizons and hope our visitors will do the same right alongside us."

Flight opens to the public on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 9am. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at www.theleonardo.org.
