CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., May 9, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The Charlottesville Albemarle Convention & Visitors Bureau (CACVB) unveiled a new campaign on Wednesday aimed at drawing visitors to the community's abundant attractions, diverse culture and appealing lifestyle experiences.

Dubbed "More to C'," the campaign highlights the recreational offerings, cuisine, music, art and natural beauty of Albemarle County and the historic university town locals call "C'ville." A highlight of the campaign is "Nickel Tours," a series of short videos giving potential visitors a compelling, quick look at all they can expect to experience in Albemarle County.

"A tragic incident here two years ago distorted some people's overall view of our community. While a heartbreaking situation, that one event does not define us. We want to share who and what we really are," said Adam Healey, CAVCB's Interim Executive Director. "Charlottesville is an amazing community filled with hospitality and love. We want people to visit and enjoy all that our vibrant, warm and welcoming area has to offer. Come C' for yourselves."

The campaign has been in the works for the past year, said Healey, a serial entrepreneur with broad business experience and a deep love for the Albemarle region. Advertising will first target visitors within a drivable distance and short direct flights into Charlottesville Albemarle Airport, code named CHO.

Home to more than 30 orchards and vineyards, the renowned University of Virginia and historic Monticello, and nestled in the scenic foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Albemarle County was founded in 1744. Charlottesville was founded soon after in 1762. The vibrant region is about an hour's drive from Richmond, two hours from Washington and three and a half hours from Raleigh. Amtrak provides daily rail service to the city, and the airport hosts more than 50 daily, nonstop flights.
