  1. Dress for Comfort – With summer temperatures reaching well over 100, the desert can be a confusing place to pack for. Blistering hot outside and then freezing inside the casinos, layers will be your best friend. A few places in Vegas mandate fashion over comfort, but for the majority of the trip, comfort will be most important.
  2. People-watching – There are so many unique things to see and do in Las Vegas, but one of the favorite things locals like to do is people watch. A favorite spot to do so is patio dining at The Spago or Cheesecake Factory, where you can watch people flock to the fountains. Some other great places to enjoy a meal and people watch include Rhumbar, Cabo Wabo Cantina, and Mon Ami Gabi at Paris Las Vegas.
  3. Stay Hydrated – The average temperature in Las Vegas is 106, and the best way to avoid heat stroke and lower your risk of passing out, consistent, sips of water throughout the day is key. Don't forget that drinking lots of booze or spending the day outside at the pool adds to dehydration. Bottled water is highly recommended, and the best place to stock up is a grocery store.
  4. Canvassers – One of the interesting parts of walking down The Strip is the constant stream of canvassers. These people spend their time snapping cards and passing out flyers. They may get in the way but they really aren't aggressive. Just ignore them and keep walking, or perhaps accept a card or two and trash it the correct way.
  5. Costumed Characters – Costumed characters are a frequent sight on Freemont Street and The Strip. They make their money through tips. Often times they get annoyed and even mean if you take pictures with them and do not leave a tip, and have been known to turn their backs to passersby attempting a quick picture. Locals highly recommend focusing on the one-of-a-kind things you see in Las Vegas.
