Woods Canada Embarks on Search for "Canada's Greatest Explorer"

This summer, 12 contestants will compete in a series of competitive outdoor challenges to determine Canada's Greatest Explorer, with the winner taking home $25,000

TORONTO, April 5, 2016 /CNW/ - Today, Woods Canada kicked off a cross-country search to find 12 of our country's most avid outdoor adventurers to compete in the first ever edition of "Canada's Greatest Explorer."

This unique new competition will pit some of Canada's most highly skilled outdoor enthusiasts against the elements and each other in a series of challenges to prove their strength and passion for the Canadian wilderness. From a field of 12 contestants, one final winner will win $25,000 and earn the "Canada's Greatest Explorer" title. Each explorer will be equipped with some of the most innovative and latest Woods gear to help them navigate through each challenge.  Canadians can follow all the action this summer on Canada's Greatest Explorer webisodes available at woodsexplorer.ca

Adventure seekers can apply to be one of the 12 contestants in Canada's Greatest Explorer between April 1, 2016 and April 22, 2016. The 12 strongest applicants will be selected to embark on an epic cross-Canada journey to compete in a series of unique outdoor challenges.

"Canadians have a special relationship with the outdoors; it's a part of who we are. This summer we're going to identify 12 of this country's most skilled outdoor adventure seekers to compete in an incredible journey to find out just who is Canada's Greatest Explorer," said James Prescott, Associate Vice President Product Development Outdoor at Woods Canada. "We're excited to see our innovative Woods products be put to the test again this season."

The Canada's Greatest Explorer contest follows on the heels of last year's Woods Canada #UltimateDreamJob competition, which saw four lucky Canadians earn the opportunity to spend five months trekking across the Trans Canada Trail for an adventure full of hiking, climbing, paddling and portaging.

"Woods Canada received more than 3,000 application videos last year for the #UltimateDreamJob competition, and we are looking forward to hearing the stories of many more passionate Canadians who love the outdoors as much as we do," Mr. Prescott said.

Canadians will have a chance to help select the 12 contestants through online voting that will determine which brave adventurers compete in the Woods wilderness challenges. Fans can cast their vote until May 11 at http://www.woods.ca/en/. The challenges will also be taped as mini-series that fans can watch to follow along throughout the journey.
